Brian's passion for fashion design was taken to the next level when he studied at New York's Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). After graduation, he became a sought-after runway model in Europe for seven years, during which he sketched shoe designs in his free time, which later became the foundation of his namesake brand.
While in Milan, Brian's talent caught the attention of the late Gianni Versace, and he became the first American designer to be hired by the fashion house in 1996. As the head designer of accessories, he became an expert in footwear design. Brian's success at Versace led to him being appointed Creative Director of Bally from 2007 to 2009, where he helped revitalize the brand before leaving to focus solely on his own label.
Since launching his brand in 2001, Brian Atwood has been globally recognized for his exquisite craftsmanship, hyper-luxe designs, and attention to detail. His fearless silhouettes and sky-high heels have made him a favorite among women worldwide, and his shoes have become a staple on the red carpet for both fashion insiders and Hollywood celebrities. Brian is a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America and has received multiple awards for his designs, including the CFDA Swarovski Perry Ellis Award for Best Accessory Design and the Footwear News "Designer of the Year" Award.
