Buckle up ladies, it’s that time of year again! Met Gala madness is upon us and we are so in love with this year’s theme “Camp: Notes on Fashion”. The term “Camp” meaning exaggerated fashion and a celebration of all things extravagantly bold. The exhibit is inspired by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay that defines camp as “love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration”. harperbazaar.com

Move over Christian Grey there’s a new trend in town! Welcome to the world of all things boldly pink, super feminine and strikingly magnificent. Our favourite of the bunch had to be Lady Gaga who stole the entire show with her four outfit change extravaganza that went on to reveal a form-fitted silk fuchsia gown. Needless to say, Lady Gaga absolutely crushed the over-the-top theme! Kacey Musgrave was another favourite who brought Barbie to life in her hot pink leather dress accompanied by a matching pink hair dryer clutch and platinum blonde wig.

Wham bam, Neon glam! While you may have thought this trend was long over, its appeal seems to have made an excitingly bold comeback at this year’s Met Gala Ball. Nothing says “I’m here and I’m ready to party” more than a technicoloured neon outfit. This year many stars made a rather playful appearance in a wonderland of colour. Model Cara Delevingne channelled her fun side in a candy-striped playsuit complete with paint striped legs while Dua Lipa wowed the crowd in signature neon Versace print. While others like Amber Valletta for instance chose to add a more subtle pop of colour to her look with a fun neon accessory ????

Met Gala fashion always seems to favour outfits that pay homage to design elements and principles which encapsulate light and shade. This year’s singing superstar Katy Perry took this style trend to the next level with her chandelier inspired outfit. Her three-layered candle chandelier outfit was complemented by a dazzling encrusted silver Moschino mini dress. Other major players were the iconic Celine Dion who looked spectacular in a champagne coloured bodysuit embellished with 3000 glass bead strands making her look perfectly timeless. Met Gala favourite Kim Kardashian also delivered a home run in a literal ‘dripping-in-diamond’ style bustier midi dress.

This classic style is a guaranteed winner each time round. The oversized bow ties in beautifully with the extravagant theme making it an all-round favourite. Sarah Pulson’s classic black evening gown featuring a large bustier bow gives us all the Met Gala feels we need, while fashion risk taker Miley Cyrus took a slightly more modern approach in a bow wrap mini dress complete with delicate sequin stripes. Former One Direction superstar Harry Styles also delivers in his risqué Rocky Horror inspired sheer bow blouse pant set combo while Darren Criss keeps it fun with an oversized silk bow tie, turning the traditional male bow tie style on its head. Overall a fun take on a classic style.
