Our beautiful Western Australia based customer Helena is an expat from Germany, who recently met her boyfriend in Sydney for a romantic weekend over NYE. To celebrate they planned a special NYE dinner at Cafe Del Mar and to suit the occasion Helena decided to hire our extra special Tadashi Shoji ‘Gold Corded Lace Dress’. Here she shares more about her GlamCorner rental experience:
Tell us about the special occasion you had and why you wanted to wear a designer dress for it?
I was on holiday in Sydney with my boyfriend and we wanted to have a “once in our lifetime”NYE dinner, so I decided to order a beautiful dress for the perfect evening at a high class restaurant. I wanted to make the evening as special as possible and to keep it in mind for a long time. The dress was the perfect opportunity to always remember this night. Besides I got a proposal of marriage in this dress – unforgettable!
What was it about this occasion that made renting a dress so appealing for you?
I wanted to surprise my boyfriend with something special but my holiday budget was limited to buy a special dress like this so I chose GC. We hadn’t seen each other for three months, because I’m working in WA as an au pair at the moment and he lives in Germany. After the holiday in Sydney we wanted to travel with a camper-van so I needed lots of space in my suitcase and couldn’t carry a dress around. That’s why I rented a dress, no cleaning afterwards, no carrying around, no stress!
Tell us about the dress and the designer label you chose, and why you chose it?
I’m a very small woman and with the height of 158 cm it’s very hard to find a good dress that doesn’t make you look smaller than you are. The filter on the website of GC made it a bit easier for me because I could select my body type and got the best results. The dress was by the label Tadashi Shoji which I never heard before but it was just amazing. The colour was golden, which is enough reason to make it special. But it was also very detailed and comfortable to wear. The length was perfect for my height and just how GC described it on the website.

Have you rented a dress before or was this your first time?
I have rented a dress before, in Germany, but I have never rented a dress with GC so this was my first time! I wanted to have something special I’d never worn before and renting is so much cheaper and easier then buying a dress. GC also offers so many possibilities to choose from and made it easy to find the right dress for me.
Tell us about how you first discovered GlamCorner?
My host mum – where I live at the moment- recommended GC because she also rented a dress for a ball. She was happy with the dress and told me that the Customer Service team at GC is very helpful with finding the right dress, size etc. I was convinced as soon as I heard about the GC backup dress option!
How was you overall experience with GC (online and offline) and would you recommend us to other women?
The experience with GC was very positive. I talked to a woman on the phone to help me change by delivery address, which was quick and easy. The dress was perfect and arrived on time with enough days to try on and style.
The communication via email was uncomplicated and very friendly.
I definitely would recommend GC to other women because it’s a perfect and easy way to find the perfect dress for an unforgettable occasion – unless you can’t choose between the thousands of possibilities ????
