Why spend hundreds of dollars on a University Ball dress that you’re only going to wear once? Our lovely customer Jessica, saved hundreds of dollars by choosing to rent our Badgley Mischka ‘Navy Sequin’ gown for her University of Queensland Graduation Ball. Not only did she save money on the dress itself and dry cleaning, below she shares how she also saved time and effort by having a plethora of dresses to choose from at her fingertips via the GlamCorner website and peace of mind with the option to add a back up dress.
Tell us about the special occasion you had and why you wanted to wear a designer dress for it?
The special occasion that I attended was the annual University of Queensland Alumni Ball. I wanted to wear a designer dress for this occasion as it was the first time that I have been a university alumni (I just graduated – heck yes!). It seemed like the perfect occasion to really look special and celebrate with my old university friends. And of course, what girl doesn’t want to look like a princess at a ball?!
What was it about this occasion that made renting a dress so appealing for you?
I have been to a number of university faculty and college balls before, and I know the expense and effort that goes into firstly finding a dress, then purchasing it, and finally the dry-cleaning drama that happens afterwards (surely I’m not the only one who puts it off for a week or two after the event?). Renting a dress turned out to be a much cheaper and easier option. I was able to browse a large number of dresses online, narrow it down to a few favourites, then add a backup dress for only $15 – this is the part that really sold it for me. If my first choice of dress didn’t fit how I wanted it to, I firstly wasn’t stuck with it, and secondly had a second option to go with.
Tell us about the dress and the designer label you chose, and why you chose it?
I chose the navy sequin gown from Badgley Mischka. It’s a beautiful form-fitting one-shouldered dress, that has a really pretty and subtle colour (in some photos it looks almost green, others – black). The dress itself fit very true to its description, I got an 8 but I could have probably gone down a size if a 6 was available, and I was very comfortable all night. There was no readjusting or tape needed which was a massive plus. I chose this gown because I was after something striking yet flattering, and I thought this gown would give me all of that with its tailored pleats on the waist, and of course the sparkles!
Have you rented a dress before or was this your first time?
This is my first time renting a dress. Budget was the number one factor for me when considering renting a dress. I was able to get a beautiful ball dress for me, as well as a backup for under $200. On top of that, I didn’t have to worry about the expense of dry-cleaning. When it all adds up – renting was a much better way for me to go.
Tell us about how you first discovered GlamCorner?
My roommate actually put me onto GlamCorner when I was whinging about not being able to find the right dress to fit in my budget. We had a bit of a play that evening on the website, and from there I was able to choose the perfect dress.
How was you overall experience with GC (online and offline) and would you recommend us to other women?
I would (and have already) recommend GC to other women. The whole process was extremely easy and professional. The website is very straightforward, the pricing is good, the shipping is super speedy, both dresses I received were amazing quality and had no wear and tear, and the instructions I received for returning the dresses were very detailed and easy to follow.
Thanks Jessica! We’re so happy we were able to make the perfect University Ball dress hire possible for you. You looked amazing! We look forward to seeing you again soon xoxo
