Tell us about the special occasion you had and why you wanted to wear a designer dress for it?
I was recently invited to attend my friend’s high school formal as his date! I was so happy to be able relive the excitement of school formals. Looking back at how special my formal experience was, I remember how my dates family and my family went out of their way to make me feel and look extra special, and so I decided to rent my gorgeous Grace & Hart dress to make his commemoration equally as special as mine was. I most obviously wanted to impress my date and impress his friends, as his formal partner, and to do that I knew I needed to find a uniquely elegant outfit, and that’s how I came to discover GlamCorner.
What was it about this occasion that made renting a dress so appealing for you?
Having already experienced the ongoing hype of formals last year, I was prepared for the stressful amount of planning and bookings that were bound to happen; yet, I wasn’t prepared for the cost involved. As a newly independent University student, I needed a glamorous look with a budget! I also figured that, chances are I wouldn’t be needing to own a floor length dress to wear again for other occasions, so GlamCorner was the perfect source for me!
Tell us about the dress and the designer label you chose, and why you chose it?
I initially booked a sleeveless Grace & Hart dress in blush for try-on purposes and was extremely happy with my fit, but I decided to stray away from my usual style preferences and that’s how I ended up wearing the beautiful Grace & Hart ivory Valentine gown to the event! It is a form-fitting high neck lace dress with a diamond cut out in the back and a centre slit that started just above the knee. Sending me some Audrey-Hepburn-Givenchy / Elizabeth Taylor vibes, I kept the look classic with a pale pink clutch, sliver shoes and accessories, with light waves and a bold red lip and red nails. It wasn’t a dress style I would normally opt for, being especially self-conscious of backless dress styles, but I wanted to experiment with a different look and be adventurous, and I’m happy to say that it paid off!
Have you rented a dress before or was this your first time? For your first time renting a dress, what made you consider it?
I had overheard experiences from friends of renting dresses from other websites, and I’ve always wanted to try it out. The concept and process of renting dresses was so intriguing to me and quite hard to believe at first, sort of ‘borrowing' a dress without actual face-to-face communication but being so successful? I had to try it out! The outcome: I’m so glad my first ever experience of rental dresses was with GlamCorner!
Tell us about how you first discovered GlamCorner?
I was searching for rental dresses and it was the first website that appeared in our searches! It was the first website I clicked on, and we didn’t look for any other alternative websites after that!
How was your overall experience with GC (online and offline) and would you recommend us to other women?
The website was so clear and well-constructed, visually very appealing, especially with the booking process of the dress. There was an incredible array of different designer brands, so spoilt for choice! Delivery was absolutely no worry at all, it even arrived a day early! It arrived in the most secure packaging, a beautiful box, and the dress was wrapped in beautifully neat crepe paper and came with a lovely personalised card from GC! Couldn’t feel any more special :) Again, the return delivery was absolutely stress free, the box had already included a return parcel and clear plastic bag for the dress. It was the easiest thing ever, and from my experience, I would definitely recommend it (and already have) to all my friends!
