Our beautiful customer Jemma chose to wear the ‘Florence Dress’ by Elliatt to Day 1 of the Championships Weekend at Randwick Racecourse. This number features blouson sleeves, two tone print and a layered flounce skirt, making it a bold yet feminine choice for the races. Read more about her experience below.
Tell us about the event and why you chose to wear a designer dress for it?
I was on track for Day 1 of The Championships at Royal Randwick, which is also Derby and Doncaster day. On Victoria Derby Day in Melbourne and now Sydney, it’s become traditional to wear black and/or white attire. I chose to hire an Elliatt dress from GlamCorner and paired it with a Morgan and Taylor “Rose” Fascinator because it was different to anything I owned!
What was it about this occasion that made renting a dress so appealing for you?
I attend the races quite regularly and due to time and financial constraints it’s very difficult to continually buy new dresses to wear each carnival. I also find it tricky to find clothes I like, I have an hourglass figure and a lot of dresses are too big for me in most areas, but will be tight around my bust. I like that you can read reviews from other women who have rented a dress you’re looking at and the ‘fit’ descriptions/measurements are so detailed.
What made you choose this dress and Designer? Have you ever purchased from this designer before?
I hadn’t worn something by this designer (Elliatt) before but I would now! I chose this dress because I liked the black and white for Derby Day (in Sydney), plus I tend to wear a lot of straight black. I thought it was a very classic and classy style and a bit different as well. It was actually a warm day but I wasn’t hot wearing this dress. The headpiece I chose to wear with it (Morgan and Taylor) was simplistic and elegant and matched a clutch I already owned.

Was this your first time renting a dress? If so, what made you consider it?
I rented a dress from GlamCorner a few weeks prior for the Golden Slipper and absolutely loved the dress I chose (Mossman) and it was such an easy experience, combined with really good customer service that I rented a dress for every raceday I attended during the Autumn Carnival! I have made a habit of collecting dresses I wear to the races and not wearing many of them often. The problem is spending hundreds on buying a new dress that is really only suitable for the racetrack. Plus usually it’s so distinctive you can’t wear it too often; or the style goes out of fashion- so it ends up sitting in your wardrobe forever!
How did you come across GlamCorner?
A friend who attends race meetings far more often than I, had mentioned GlamCorner a while ago to me but it wasn’t until a few weeks ago that we struck up another conversation about it and I decided to take a proper look for myself!
Did you enjoy your overall experience from beginning to end with GlamCorner? Would you recommend us to other women?
It was a great experience and fantastic customer service, I have already recommended to a lot of my girlfriends. I like that there is a wide variety of brands and styles, the prices are extremely reasonable, the postage fast and efficient and there are dresses to suit a wide range of tastes and shapes.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us, Jemma! Your outfit was the perfect race day ensemble and we are glad to hear you had a lovely time.
