Tell us about the special occasion you had and why you wanted to wear a designer dress for it?
For my best friends 21st birthday party I wanted to wear a statement piece that was different to what I’d normally wear. I really love the brand Self Portrait, however, due to the heavy price tag attached to their clothing I looked for alternative avenues, such as GlamCorner – A cheap and affordable avenue to hire designer dresses for any special occasion.
What was it about this occasion that made renting a dress so appealing for you?
The 21st birthday party dress code was formal cocktail so I wanted a dress that was authentic and fit with the theme. The beauty of GlamCorner is that you can see the dresses on the models and read the attached reviews to get a greater feel for the dress and if it is the right choice for you. The affordability of renting was also a massive bonus for me as the dress I wanted was around $800 to buy outright and only $169 to hire.
Tell us about the dress and the designer label you chose, and why you chose it?
I chose the Self Portrait Tiered Guipure Lace Mini Dress in Black. I ordered the size 8 (which is my normal size) and it fit like a glove. I love the originality of Self Portrait and the intricate detail of all their dresses. I chose this dress because I was fascinated by it and wanted to wear something authentic.
Have you rented a dress before or was this your first time? For your first time renting a dress, what made you consider it?
This was my first time hiring a dress – I was very unsure as I always prefer to try on dresses before I buy them. However, after reading the reviews on the dress saying it was “true to size”, I felt more at ease with pursuing the hire. The dress I wore is a real statement piece and is one that I’d wear once and leave in the cupboard just to collect dust. I went through with the hire because of this reason and the heavy price it was to buy outright, making hiring a much more appealing choice.

Tell us about how you first discovered GlamCorner?
I first discovered GlamCorner through word of mouth. A couple of my girlfriends had rented dresses through the service and had nothing but positive things to say about it. When I decided to hire a dress for the 21st birthday party it was the first rental site I visited and upon comparing prices to other hire sites, I found GlamCorner to be the most reasonable.
